Airlines not charging higher fares despite surge in demand, operators say

The Airlines Operators Association of Nepal has said airlines are continuing to sell tickets at their regular fares, although cheaper ticket categories have sold out due to high demand.

The association clarified that airlines are not charging fares above the rates set by the government and are maintaining their regular fares as part of their humanitarian and social responsibility.

According to the association, private helicopter companies have prioritised search and rescue operations during the disaster. Private helicopters have been deployed to transport essential supplies and relief materials, as well as security personnel involved in rescue operations, to the affected areas.
