Alternative road opens to flood-hit areas across Trishuli

Kathmandu, August 31

A road has been reopened to reconnect parts of Nuwakot across the Trishuli River after bridges were damaged by the recent floods, restoring access to the district headquarters and easing the movement of relief supplies.

The Ministry of Infrastructure Development said the road has been brought into operation along the right bank of the Trishuli River under the Galchhi–Trishuli Highway.

The route runs from across the Trishuli bridge through Kalleritar, Koshikhola, Pipaltar, Darshantar, Chhatrekhola and Gauribesi before reaching Trishuli Bazaar.

The reopening has restored road access for many residents living across the river to the district headquarters, according to the ministry.

The road is also expected to make it easier to transport rescue teams, relief materials and other essential supplies to flood-affected areas.

Several bridges over the Trishuli River were damaged or swept away by the floods, cutting off communities on the other side of the river from the main road network. The newly opened route provides an alternative connection while those crossings remain affected.
