Deuba faction moves Supreme Court to halt Nepali Congress’ 15th general convention

Kathmandu, August 25

The Sher Bahadur Deuba faction of the Nepali Congress has filed a supplementary petition at the Supreme Court seeking to halt the party’s 15th General Convention.

Supreme Court spokesperson Arjun Koirala said a hearing on the petition has been scheduled for August 27. Advocate Shrawan Kumar Dev filed the petition on behalf of the Deuba faction.

The dispute within the Nepali Congress is currently pending before the Supreme Court after the court allowed a review of its earlier verdict concerning the party’s special general convention.

The faction has argued that the 15th General Convention cannot be held until the review petition is finally resolved.
