With a half-century from Kushal Bhurtel, Nepal secured their second win in the ongoing Tri-Nation T20I series in Scotland. In the match held in Glasgow on Thursday, Nepal registered an impressive 6-wicket victory over the Netherlands.
Chasing a target of 175 runs set by the Netherlands, Nepal reached the total in 19.4 overs, losing 4 wickets. Opener Kushal Bhurtel top-scored for Nepal with 65 runs off 51 balls, hitting six fours. Arif Sheikh contributed 39 runs.
Arif had to retire hurt when Nepal’s score reached 168. Making his T20I debut, Bhim Sharki scored 27 runs. Dipendra Singh Airee remained unbeaten on 16, while Lokesh Bam hit the winning six and stayed not out on 12.
For the Netherlands, Ben Fletcher, Aryan Dutt, Roelof van der Merwe, and Zach Lion-Cachet took one wicket each.
Losing the toss and batting first, the Netherlands scored 174 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs, setting Nepal a target of 175.
Opener Michael Levitt played an aggressive innings for the Netherlands, scoring 86 runs off 53 balls with six fours and five sixes. All-rounder Roelof van der Merwe also remained unbeaten with 36 runs off 21 balls.
At one point, the Netherlands were struggling at 45/4. Levitt launched a counter-attack and shared a 63-run partnership with Saqib Zulfiqar.
After the score reached 129/7, Van der Merwe and Aryan Dutt stitched a 45-run stand to take the total to 174.
For Nepal, Karan KC took 2 wickets, conceding 40 runs in his 4 overs. Dipendra Singh Airee, Lalit Rajbanshi, Sandeep Lamichhane, and Rupesh Singh each took one wicket.
Nepal will now play their final match of the series against Scotland today. Earlier, Nepal had lost to the Netherlands in a match that went to three Super Overs and defeated Scotland in a close contest.
