NRN Association to provide Rs 50 million to flood victims

Kathmandu, August 27

The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) has decided to immediately provide financial assistance worth Rs 50 million toward the rescue, relief, and other support of flood-affected families.

An emergency meeting of the association decided to form a relief and rescue committee for those affected by the Rasuwa flood, coordinated by NRNA President Dr Hemraj Sharma.

A fundraising committee has also been formed, coordinated by Treasurer Krishna Timalsina, to collect financial contributions. The meeting further decided to mobilise essential medical and volunteer teams to the affected areas and appealed to NRNA officials and members to participate as volunteers in rescue and relief work.

NRNA General Secretary Dr Chiranjivi Khadka said the association has also decided to gather information on whether family members of NRNA members and officials have been affected by the flood, and to coordinate with the relevant government mechanisms for any necessary rescue and relief.
