KATHMANDU: Speaker of the House of Representatives, Devraj Ghimire, has called on the government to ensure the safety of Nepalis residing in India and Pakistan, given the current tensions between the two countries.
He emphasized the need for the government to be proactive and make necessary arrangements to address potential risks.
Speaker Ghimire raised the issue during the House of Representatives meeting held on Friday. Lawmakers present in the meeting stressed that the government should be aware of the possible impacts of India-Pakistan tensions on Nepal and urged the government to initiate necessary preparations.
Additionally, Speaker Ghimire read out the contents of a letter received from the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers regarding additional responsibilities assigned to the government.
The House of Representatives is currently holding discussions on the Nepal Government’s Annual Policies and Programs for the fiscal year 2082/83.
