KATHMANDU: The Hollywood film Tashi is currently being shot at various locations across Nepal. This week, an important scene was filmed in Patan, Lalitpur.
Videos and photos from the Patan set reveal the character looks and production design. Traditional Nepali attire, bamboo carriers (kharpans), a recreated local market, and props like porters help establish the film’s setting.
Exclusive images from the set feature Hollywood star Tom Hiddleston fully in character. He portrays Sir Edmund Hillary, one of the first climbers to summit Mount Everest.
A few days ago, actor Willem Dafoe was also spotted near the Boudhanath Stupa, interacting with fans. The film is scheduled to be shot in Kathmandu, Sindhupalchok, Solu Khumjung, and
Bandipur. It tells the story of Tenzing Norgay Sherpa, Hillary’s legendary climbing partner.
The film is produced by See-Saw Films, the Oscar-winning studio behind The King’s Speech. More than 300 crew members are currently in Nepal for the project. The global distribution is being handled by Apple. The film is directed by Jennifer Peedom, best known for her documentaries Sherpa and Mountain.
