‘2030 IN SIGHT LIVE Nepal’ begins, expected to be helpful in globalizing Nepal’s practices in eye treatment

KATHMANDU: An international conference of world’s eye service providers began here today. The event entitled ‘2030 In Sight Live Nepal’ organised by the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) first time in Nepal is attended by representatives from IAPB member organisations working for the prevention of blindness and for eye health across the world.

International charity organisations, eye hospital, academic institutes, business and corporate organisations are majorly the IPB members.

In Nepal, Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh, Nepal Eye Hospital, Tilanganga Eye Hospital (Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmologist) and the BP Eye Foundation are the members of IAPB.

According to IAPB’s official site, it is the overarching alliance for the global eye health sector, with more than 250 organisations in over 100 countries, working together for a world where everyone has universal access to eye care.

The 2024’s IAPB Conference was held in Mexico. According to IAPB’s regional coordinator for South Asia, the event has been participated by around 500 representatives from 100 nations.

Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh’s Executive Director Dr Shailesh Kumar Mishra said the Conference will be primarily focused on strategies and plans required for the eye health sector till 2030 AD.

Association general secretary Bharat Bahadur Chand expressed his hope that the Conference will be helpful in globalizing Nepal’s eye treatment facilities. “It is a matter of pride that the Conference has been organized in Nepal.”
