Kavrepalanchok, April 26
A total of 627 passengers stranded after the BP Highway was blocked due to rainfall have been rescued.
According to the District Police Office, Kavrepalanchok, the passengers who had been stranded in Mangaltar since Saturday evening were rescued on Sunday. The highway was obstructed after floods in the Roshi River swept away temporary diversion routes at multiple locations.
Information Officer and DSP Rabin Bista said that the passengers stranded in Mangaltar were rescued on Sunday morning after the flood damaged several diversion points along the highway.
Police said the stranded passengers were evacuated from Mangaltar by crossing a suspension bridge and routed via the Temal Rural Municipality to Bhakunde.

Due to the washed-away diversions, vehicles halted at Mangaltar have been unable to proceed towards Kathmandu or Sindhuli. Police stated that the stranded vehicles will be allowed to continue to their destinations once the diversions are rebuilt.
Around 80 vehicles were stranded at Roshi-9, Mangaltar. While passengers have been rescued, approximately 120 to 125 drivers and co-drivers are still waiting with their vehicles.
Passengers stranded along the Roshi River were also provided with food items such as fruits, noodles, juice, and water in Bhakunde with the support of local hotel entrepreneurs and Nepal Police.
Roshi Rural Municipality Chairperson Dinesh Lama said work to rebuild the washed-away diversions has begun as rainfall subsided.
He added that construction of diversions has started at eight locations—Chaukidanda, Ghumaune, Narke, Chiuribas, Kaladhunga, Dalabesi, Buldhunga, and Mamti—where the Roshi River had caused damage.
