Rasuwa floods disrupt six transmission lines, 220 kV substation destroyed

Kathmandu, August 26

Six power transmission lines have been disrupted following the devastating Rasuwa floods, according to the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA).

The floods completely destroyed the 220 kV Trishuli 3B Hub Substation, while damage to transmission infrastructure has disrupted power flow across several lines.

The affected transmission lines include:

• Chilime 220 kV Hub, which has been shut down after its tower was damaged
• Samundratar–Trishuli 132 kV transmission line
• Chilime–Trishuli 66 kV transmission line
• Chilime Hub–Trishuli 3B Hub–Matatirtha 220 kV transmission line
• Trishuli–Balaju 66 kV transmission line

The NEA said some other transmission towers have also sustained damage.

The authority is working to restore electricity through alternative arrangements wherever possible.

Electricity supply has already been restored in the Samundratar area toward Sindhupalchok, while efforts are underway to bring the Chaughoda substation back into operation.

Similarly, the NEA is working to restore electricity supply to areas between Gajuri and Galchhi through the Dhadingbesi substation.
