Syabrubesi devastated by Bhotekoshi flood (In Photos)

The flood has left much of Syabrubesi in ruins, with residents still searching for missing loved ones and struggling to come to terms with the devastation.

Syabrubesi Bazaar in Rasuwa, one of the areas hardest hit by the August 26 flood in the Bhotekoshi River, has been largely devastated.

Rescue and relief efforts are continuing in the area, with the Nepal Army, Armed Police Force, Nepal Police and local residents involved in the response. Support is also arriving from individuals and organisations in Nepal and abroad.

But in Syabrubesi and other areas of upper Rasuwa, the situation remains difficult.

The devastation is visible across Syabrubesi. Homes and businesses have been destroyed, while residents remain frightened by the scale of the disaster.

For families who lost loved ones in the flood, the wait has been particularly painful. Tears continue to flow as they grieve those confirmed dead while holding on to hope that some of those still missing may be found.

Residents say they have never witnessed a disaster of such magnitude.

“We had never seen anything like this. This is a black day for us,” Syabrubesi residents said as they recalled the day the flood struck.

While rescue and relief operations have progressed in many parts of Nuwakot and Dhading, the response in upper Rasuwa—including Syabrubesi, Timure and Rasuwagadhi—continues to face challenges.

For the people of Syabrubesi, the flood has left behind not only physical destruction but also uncertainty, grief and the difficult wait for news of missing family members.
